Between January 2010 and August 2011, I transcribed my experiences from 2009 onto paper in the form of a book. The goal was to share with other people what I lived. My book is an honest record of a young man who once dreamed a pure and simple dream. I was lucky enough to make it real — and this book is my thank-you.

“I’m really enjoying the author’s simple, straightforward way of writing. He tells the story as if he were chatting with us after coming back from the trip, while showing us travel photos. Thank you for letting me travel with you and be part of your adventure on two wheels.”
— Ana Rosa de Abreu — Amazon
“For me, it’s one of the two best books on bicycle travel. Few authors have captured the adventure as well as Thiago did. And unlike many, he didn’t avoid telling the rough parts of the trip. The hard part is reading it and not immediately wanting to throw yourself into South America with your bike.”

“This book redefined my idea of what a bicycle can be — the narrative is so engaging that I felt like I was traveling alongside the author. Highly recommended!”
— Thiago Luis — Amazon
“It describes the journey not only with technical details, but mainly with the feelings the author experienced along the way. An engaging and inspiring book.”
— Raf — Amazon
“Thiago’s cycling travel story is sensational — one of the best I’ve ever read!
— Roderick Jordão — Amazon
It has everything that can happen on a bicycle tour: adventure, self-discovery, joy, difficulties, history, friendship, adrenaline, scares, etc. Speaking of difficulties, aside from the beginning, I thought the rest would be all hardship — but no, it’s the opposite: the tide turns quickly and Thiago ends up having an absolutely beautiful experience! The wild part is that the author didn’t plan much; he let destiny take the lead. In some places he didn’t even have a map. Decisions were made slowly as the trip unfolded. That’s the opposite of many cycling travel stories I’ve read, where planning is fundamental. My Virgo Moon would never let me travel like that, hahaha! Maybe that’s why I loved it so much: a calm human being living one day after another, without worrying about what was coming next. But the best part — and this is where the magic of bicycle travel is — was following the many encounters and friendships over an entire year. There were so many! It was a pleasure to read: each chapter is full of people, interesting characters — other cyclists and locals alike.
Finally, if you’re in doubt: read it. Every page will be worth it ;)”
Very often, many of the emails I receive start with the same question: “But… have you ever been robbed?”
I’ve always been passionate about the remote. Distant and hard-to-reach places have always attracted me. I found a few across the continent, but…
Last month, the official launch of the Lagamar São Paulo Cycle Tourism Circuit took place.
I’m a Gen X Brazilian — born in São Paulo, and living in Curitiba since 2011. I’m Valentina’s dad, a daily cyclist, and I work in information technology.
I’m passionate about science and the stars.
One day, I decided to make a dream come true — and it worked.
My book is the result of a lot of dedication, love, and stubbornness. It’s the materialization of that dream.
